Art Car, day 3 -- The Painting Begins!

Today we started off by cutting out the stencils of our Campbell soup can, as well as tracing our number 15 for the car. Then, we outlined the soup can onto the hood of the car so that we could begin painting on our colored grids. For the majority of the morning, we painted the red, blue, pink and green grid on. Along with this, we finished cutting out the stencils of the letters which will go on the can. We ate lunch and afterwards got right back to work. With the outlines of the number 15 done, we filled in all three with yellow paint. There’s one on each side of the car along with one on top of the roof. During this time we also applied a second coat of paint over the grid on the front of the car so that it would look more full. Once we finished filling in the 15’s, which was extremely tedious, we began coloring the doors. After a brief discussion, we decided to have the left side of the car be red with light blue on top of it, and the right side to be green with pink above it. We also added some bananas around the wheels to add some more stuff onto the car. Painting this, along with some black outlining, took up the rest of the day but we were able to paint an impressive amount, hopefully we can finish all of the detailing tomorrow! --Clark, class of 2020, photo by Cole, class of 2020.
