Art Car 2022, Day 5 - "Mushrooms Continued"

Today was another chilly day, with the high being in the mid 50s only. Since the art car group had ordered a lot of floral foam with which to make the mushrooms to be placed all over the art car, we decided to have another relaxing day inside and continue to carve, prime, paint, and decorate the mushrooms made from the foam. Like on Friday, Ms. Sloan was in charge of the "mushroom hospital", which is where mushrooms were sent when they were accidentally cracked or broken during the painting and priming stages. Ms. Sloan also helped reinforce the intact mushrooms with wire, which helps to prevent further damage to the fragile foam mushrooms. Before lunch, Oliver took charge of painting the mushrooms with red paint, as well as doing any touch-ups necessary when white paint accidentally got on the mushroom top. Although people rotated a lot based on what needed to be done, Ariela carved several mushrooms and decorated the painted mushrooms with white dots while Lily and Asher carved and primed more mushrooms.

After lunch, the group continued carving, priming, painting, and decorating all of the mushrooms. Tomorrow, we're hoping to be able to finish making the mushrooms and begin gluing them to the art car, along with the moss and other decorations we're planning on using. Since this week's weather is supposed to hail promising results, we're hoping to make the most of the sunshine and make this art car something unique and fun. Keep reading to find out what else we've gotten up to.
