Art Car 2022, Day 6 - "Gluing the Mushrooms"

Today was our third chilly day in a row, but thankfully the temperatures rose as the day continued and we ended in the high fifties. We spent the first half of the day adding finishing touches to the numerous mushrooms we carved the previous two days. Similar to how we had been doing it before, we made stations so everyone was working on something different and we could be as efficient as possible. We had people carving new mushrooms, priming mushrooms, painting the stems, and adding details like the white polka dots. This was time consuming and ended up taking up almost all of our morning. As we worked, we moved the fully painted mushrooms out on a table and quite literally waited for the paint to dry. By the time the majority was finished it was already time for lunch.

In the afternoon when we had finished eating, we gathered back in the room where a couple people finished up the painting and the rest of us gathered up the dry mushrooms into a box. When that was done, two of us went out to the car and started the much anticipated work of gluing the mushrooms to it. The rest of our group met us out there shortly and we all continued this work. In no time we had all the mushrooms from the box glued to the car. The rest were still in the room drying and we are planning to  glue them on tomorrow. A little while later we all headed back to the Art Car room and cleaned up the space for tomorrow. We look forward to adding to the car tomorrow!
