Art Car 2022, Day 7 - “Filling in the spaces”

The weather today stayed cold throughout the entire day, but we did get used to it after a while. The first quarter of the day was spent in two groups, one making touchups to the remaining mushrooms, and the other starting to glue on the mushrooms. We made sure not to glue the tall mushrooms to obstruct the view of the driver. After the group inside was done making finishing touches to the mushrooms, we went out and joined the gluing process. We did this by taking liquid silicon and pressing the mushrooms onto the car. We ended up gluing all the mushrooms down by mid-day.

After finishing our lunches, we started on the “grass”. We used our remaining scraps from the mushroom carving for the grass. We put silicon down, smeared it out, and then someone would come in and pat the foam scraps into the silicon. We decided that the empty spaces, where there had not been “grass” would be filled with moss or stones. We kept repeating this until we had run out of silicon (we had gone through 8 bottles today!!). Then we decided we would dedicate our remaining time to plan out where we want the moss to be placed, while Ms. Sloan ran to fetch us more silicon. I think tomorrow we will get to placing the moss, that should be exciting!!
