Today was another day full of progress for the Art Car group. It was also the day that we went out to eat for lunch which was really fun. The first thing we did in the morning was give our food orders to Ms. Sloan who ordered us lunch from Halal Guys. Then we got right to the car, gluing on some moss colored rocks we had bought. Those ran out pretty fast and when we were done we decided to take a small snack break before getting back to work. Once we were back outside, we finished up yesterday's work of gluing on our small foam scraps to cover the car. Next we unpackaged the moss and began the tedious work of applying it to the car. We worked in two groups of three, with one person gluing, and the others helping to spread the glue and place the moss. We only had five small bags of the moss so it didn't take too long to do.
As we worked on gluing these details to the car, a minor setback we encountered was that we kept running out of glue. We would refill and start working but then all too soon we would have to refill again. This same issue has happened previous days and caused Ms. Sloan to have to go buy us more because our work caused us to tear through the glue bottles. Thankfully, we made it through and were able to glue all of the moss and rocks. Later in the morning when our food was ready, Ms. Sloan took a couple of us for a spin in our the car to go pick it up. I'm sure the car got more than a few weird looks but it was cool to take it for a drive since we hadn't had that opportunity yet. When they arrived back with the food, we all got in the bus and drove to Smither Park where we ate and admired all the art work. We even saw someone with a cat on a leash. The person was very kind and let us pet the cat who was friendly and super cute. When lunch was over, we made our way back to the high school campus where we cleaned up the area around the car. We decided it would be best to order some more moss since the bags were pretty small. Tomorrow we'll add the finishing touches and our art car will be complete!
