Art Car 2023: Day 7

Thursday, January 12th: Today was mostly the time where we put the final touches on our cake. Evan and Lily went to the car and finished painting the other side of the car in a powder blue, with the word patisserie on each side. Jules, Amelie, and I went outside to begin caulking the sides of the cake. Much to our disappointment, the sides and top on the cake were still damp. We decided that drying it with our fan was going to be the more time consuming route, so we ended up putting the cake outside to dry. We waited about an hour, and while some of us waited, Evan and Lily went outside and back to the car to begin drawing small bows in baby blue, dark blue, and white paint. After a bit, jules, cape, and I all went back to the cake and started caulking it to create icing like streams alongside the middle tiers. We then as a group made small nondescript red fruits to adorn the cake with.
Reflection- I think today was a really good day for getting in final touches, whereas tomorrow will be very heavy detail focused. We’ll be getting on the car and flying the big cake on, and scattering the smaller ones around it. very excited for the outcome! -- Gala, class of 2026
