Art Car 2024: Day 3

In the morning, the first project that we worked to put together was one of the ramen bowls. The bowl of ramen was made using the spray foam, which acted as the filling and we had topped it with previously carved out ramen toppings. We had learned that for the next bowl it would be best for the filling to be scrap material instead of being made entirely out of spray foam to be more conservative of materials.
We had then moved on to the main task of the day, which involved coating all of the carved out food pieces from the previous day in Gesso. Some of us stayed behind to complete this task while others had gone out to go shopping for more supplies. We had also painted one of the large bowls with Gesso. We found that the best way for all the props to dry properly was to set all the wet items outside on the bush. This was done so we would have time to start adding some color to the pieces. The other half of the group would return from shopping with two mannequins, floral foam and styrofoam. Having these mannequins is an important step to our art car as we will be using the limbs. They were also able to bring in old styrofoam from the previous art car.
Towards the end of the day was when we finally started to paint the props with color. We each were able to paint numerous different food pieces as well as the second ramen bowl.
