Art Car 2025: Day 1, New Year, New Art Car! (March 17)

We are so excited to start our first day of our Art Car M-term! Since today is the first day, we did a lot of planning. We started off by planning out our blogging schedule, so we would all know what's going on. Then we decided we were going to go straight into our plan for our car.

We decided we wanted to use these cute little stuffed animals as our car's inspiration. They are called Fugglers, funny-ugly, due to their funnily ugly look. Though the official name of our car when we entered the Houston Art Car Parade was "Unidentified Furry Object," we have now been calling it the "Fugglermachine!"

We are planning on making our car hot pink, fury, with cute eyes, and funny teeth. Once we finally decided what we wanted everything to look like, we headed over to the tinkeria and started planning out our shopping list. We planned out our budget, where we would go, what we would get and how much.

Once we finalized that list we went ahead and decided to go take a look at the actual car to see how it would go. When we went to look at the car we realized it had a lot of glue and scraps still left on it from last year so we decided to go ahead and start chipping away. It took us about an hour and a half to get almost everything chipped off the car and brushed off.

After we finished that we went on a very yummy and much needed lunch break from all our hard work. When we reconvened, we decided that we wanted to start sketching out how we all thought the car might look while we watched a movie. So we cued Aisle of the Dogs (some previous inspiration we almost went with) and started doodling away. And that was our AMAZING first day of M-Term. See you tomorrow! --Nuria, class of 2026 with edits and additions from Specialist Sloan.
