We dedicated the morning time to outside activities, taking our time to shop for various art supplies and visiting art exhibits for inspiration. At around 9:00 am, we hopped onto the art car and headed to Home Depot where we brought more tools for carving foam and turf for the base of our car. After finding what we needed, we loaded it onto our car and drove to Basket Books & Art, a book store with an art exhibition upstairs. Using their current insect-themed showcase to our advantage, we were able to gather inspiration and a better idea of what we wanted our bugs to look like.
After heading back to school, we used the rest of our time working on the art car. We split into two groups, one group carving more decorations for the car, and the other taking down the previous art car’s fur and putting down the new base. By the end of the day, we were able to make a turtle, a rat, some ants, harden yesterday’s animals using primer, and cover the roof of our art car with artificial grass.
Wednesday has definitely been one of the more fun days, as our small trip allowed the group to grow more comfortable together. Because of this, everyone had a better time working together on the car. We were able to prepare materials for the next few days, allowing us to work more efficiently in the future. I am confident to say that we are off to a good start.
